Autumn training the Ed’s way

Autumn Training was held a few weeks ago at the Ed’s Office . First and foremost, we were very happy to have a strong turnout from our franchisee network. It is always great to catch up with our franchisees face to face.

And so, we kicked off with a brilliant classroom session where our gardening guru gave us a talk on all things horticultural. It never ceases to amaze us how any horticultural question can be fully answered by him on the spot. We consider ourselves so lucky to have this encyclopedic knowledge at our fingertips.

The participants

Joe the dog, who runs his Ed’s business in Worthing along with his owner, Nigel, was transfixed throughout.  Certainly, he was quite the star pupil of the day…

Sadly, Banjo, the Ed’s office labrador puppy wasn’t able to show the same level of commitment. Absolutely nothing was getting in the way of his afternoon nap. That said, he soon perked up again and became much more attentive once the proceedings had moved on to food!

Moving outdoors

Autumn training suggests cosy time spent indoors. However, Ed’s business owners are never used to spending too much time sitting still and cooped up,whatever the weather. And so, once the classroom sessions had concluded, we all moved to the great outdoors and we were back in our element.

Some golf activity ensued and a lot of informal chats with our business owners swapping tips and experiences. We find this part of  training is every bit as valuable as the more formal teaching when we run such sessions. Here is Clive (our longest serving Ed’s business owner) shooting the breeze with Ant (one of our newest ones).

Appetites well and truly worked up, we turned the heat up and all congregated around the barbecue. Ed himself was at the helm – as well as running a great franchise business, he can flip a mean burger (with stilton of course). Joe and Banjo were particular fans of any dropped sausages.

Autumn training -the Lowdown

A very good and useful time was had by all. The Ed’s approach to training sessions is to get the balance right between providing hard hitting and value-adding sessions to help our business owners optimise their Ed’s businesses whilst keeping things fun, supportive and very sociable. In Ed’s one of  our mantras is that success is not just measured by hard results, it’s also about enjoying the journey.
