Ed’s Gardeners at every time of year
Summer turns to autumn…
Ed’s gardeners have just had a very busy summer servicing all their customers’ gardening needs. Enquiries for garden services fly in and they can have as much work as they want to take on. The level of demand is not an issue. The bigger question is how much work uptake they want to have. This leads to decisions on timing of taking on new customers and staff and such like. It is all very positive as it is all about the challenge of making the most of being part of a strong franchise. Our franchise business owners make their own decisions about how much they want to grow their businesses with our professional support but without any pressure from us to run a large business. Scale of operation is very much a personal decision for our business owners.
Yet Ed’s gardening businesses are still running full steam ahead…
Summer is almost over. However, the Ed’s gardening year is certain continue strong right up to Christmas. When we speak to potential new franchisees, sometimes they question how seasonal gardening is and what they might do in winter. The truth is that Ed’s gardening is seasonal in the sense that you may be doing different things in your gardens at different times of the year. Yet you can be busy all year round if you wish to be. The seasonality factor is a positive. Furthermore, it keeps life interesting as your jobs change with the seasons.
Ed’s Gardeners – What does winter look like?
The answer is really, what do you want it to look like? Some of our business owners consciously decide to take January and February off. They may prefer to take a break before spring crashes on to the scene. Others decide to work all year round. Again, it’s all about flexibility to do what suits you. And so, it really is a decision for the business owner to take. What fits best with your own circumstances?
And so let’s ask Nigel, who runs his Ed’s business in Worthing. He sums it all up nicely ” Some of us take time off in January and February and fly off somewhere warm and make the most of our freedom as business owners to take some time out. We earn very well throughout the year so it is possible to do that, whilst in many jobs you can’t afford to. Others maybe with children in school decide to work through and take some time off in the summer instead when they have their children at home. Then there is the third category like me who say they are going to take January and February off, take a bit of a break and then go back to work early because they miss gardening and seeing their customers. How many jobs can you say that about!”
