A Smooth Succession in Royal Tunbridge Wells

A smooth succession is underway

A smooth succession is in progress in Royal Tunbridge Wells . We are pleased to announce that Richard has joined the Ed’s team to run his gardening business in Tunbridge Wells. Richard has recently bought David’s thriving garden franchise business. Now he is looking forward to taking his new business venture from strength to strength.

Previously, Richard ran a recruitment consultancy. However, he was starting to feel like he needed a new challenge. Now he is delighted to be getting out of the office and into the garden.

The full story…

Here’s what Richard has to say about his experience…

A smooth succession – the background

“I was already aware of Ed’s presence in Tunbridge Wells through David. I had a strong impression of a high quality franchise with high calibre, professional franchisees long before I thought of Ed’s as a path for me. David had even done some work for us on a few occasions in the past. Both his work and his customer service were absolutely top notch. A switched on, professional guy who went above and beyond for us and who flew the flag for a strong brand. We clicked over a shared love of music.”

“The time had come to make some big changes in my professional life. I’d come to realise that life was too short to be doing something that no longer really excited me. I was very keen to run my own business. However, it had to be something I could take great pride in and made me want to bounce out of bed in the morning. Furthermore, I was attracted to an outdoors healthy lifestyle and I wanted the freedom to enjoy life beyond work. And so, my mind wandered off to Ed’s. It seemed to tick all the boxes.”

The purchase process

“I contacted Ed’s to find out more about joining in the wider Tunbridge Wells area as I knew David was already present in my area. The Ed’s office was very engaged with me. We quickly got a dialogue going. I was invited to a meeting with Ed and was very impressed with the professionalism of Ed’s overall. When I found out that David had plans to move on after building a great business over six years with Ed’s, it all got even more exciting. It kind of felt like the stars were aligned and it was just too good an opportunity to miss.”

“As I got to know more about David’s business, I realised what a great business he had built. That justified the asking price. I could have started a new franchise business instead with a much lower investment but I loved the idea of buying a quality business that was already very established.”

“I was very excited about the prospect of taking over David’s business from the start. He is rightfully very proud of what he has achieved with it. However, I still made sure that I undertook rigorous due diligence. I needed to make sure everything was as it seemed. It was, and more. The more I dug, the more reassured I was!”

“Beyond the Tunbridge Wells Ed’s business, I did my homework on really finding out about the Ed’s franchise. This included chats with a number of Ed’s franchisees. This was also an important piece of the jigsaw and it reassured me that there was quality throughout the franchise. Furthermore, the fit with Ed’s was absolutely right for me.”

A smooth succession – Looking forward

“David and I are now firmly in handover phase. This is being handled with the same professionalism as I have seen through the whole process. The Ed’s office have also been supporting the transition in a very hands on and professional way. It has all been pretty seamless so far. “

“It’s really early days but it is all living up to my expectations. I have been really enjoying these first days as an Ed’s business owner. It is great to be waking up in the morning full of enthusiasm and ideas for the working day ahead. I look forward to seeing what I can achieve in the future with this excellent business. I couldn’t wish for a better starting platform.”

We wish Richard all the very best with his exciting new venture!
