Ed’s Garden Services News Hot off the press…

Ed’s Garden Services goes up to Oxford and Cambridge!

Ed’s Garden Services are delighted to announce two new business owners who have very recently joined Ed’s to run their gardening businesses in Oxford and Cambridge. We are thrilled to welcome both promising new business owners in two such prestigious seats of learning.

Ed’s Garden Services – Good old Oxbridge boat race rivalry?

So will there be extremely high standards and competitive spirit between the two new business owners in line with the Oxford and Cambridge boat race mentality?

It is true that Ed’s Garden Services business owners share the same very high standards in running their businesses and success is important to them. They also enjoy the fit and healthy lifestyle being a gardener brings. However, that’s where the analogy ends. In all truth, our Ed’s business owners all work together as one strong team rather than pitching against each other. Everyone has their own protected areas. Ed’s Gardening Business owners act more like friends than competitors. They enjoy helping each other succeed, irrespective of what stage they are at with their own businesses.

Introducing Rich in Oxford (South)…

Rich Harris has recently joined the Ed’s team to run his gardening business in Oxford (South).

Rich’s decision to join Ed’s…

Why a gardening business?

“I’ve hankered after setting up a gardening business and being my own boss for quite some time now. I am a very active individual and I am a qualified rock climbing instructor. From this experience, I know I love a challenge and the great outdoors.”

Why a gardening franchise?

“I also know from my rock climbing instructor experience just how important it is to have the right tools and professional guidance at your fingertips. This is key if you are going to be safe, rise to challenges and be successful. That was one of the key considerations that drew me to franchising and more specifically to Ed’s. I weighed up whether I should set up as an independent gardener or go the franchise route. After careful consideration and discussion with my family, I decided that I would develop a successful business much more efficiently with a good franchise to guide me through.”

Why Ed’s Garden Services?

“Ed’s Garden Services stood out as the very best of the bunch of garden franchises on offer. My feeling was that if I am setting up a gardening business in my hometown of Oxford, I had better be sure that I am going with the intelligent choice! Joking aside though, Ed’s just clicked for me in terms of fit straight away. In essence, it was a really easy decision to make. They were very switched-on. Their professionalism and engagement with me made them stand out from the very beginning.”

“I’d been following Ed’s closely since last year. However, when the lockdown happened, it really focused my mind to get on with it. I felt the time was absolutely right for me.”

The Reality?

“So far, everything in my business set-up is running like clockwork. It’s been a busy and exciting time over the past month. I’ve started my training and am well on my way to being ready to go. The office team has been very supportive and reassuring throughout. The Gardening Business Owners that I have met through my fact-finding and training have been fantastic too. Really impressive. What struck me is how professional and friendly they are in equal measures.”

Introducing Ali in Cambridge (North)…

And then, on the day after Rich joined Ed’s, Ali McCormick signed his contact to join Ed’s to run his Ed’s business in Cambridge (North)

Why a gardening business?

“I’d worked for the same company in credit control for nineteen years and was made redundant. I saw the redundancy as a real opportunity as I knew I wanted to do something really different. I liked the idea of getting out of an office environment and doing something more challenging and outdoorsy. Furthermore, the idea of running my own business really appealed to me.”

Why a gardening franchise?

“I thought (very) briefly about going it alone but I instinctively knew my chances of success were much better going with an established franchise. I wanted to be able to get up to a good earnings level quickly and I knew that would be so much easier going the franchise route.”

“My mother actually mentioned Ed’s Garden Services’ presence in the area she lives and said they came over as a really good and professional company. I thought it was worth finding out more. “

Why Ed’s Garden Services?

“Ed’s just struck a chord with me right away. I just liked everything I saw about them, from the set-up to their branding. It all came over as very professional and thought-out. The office team were very open with information and to chat through what I was looking for.”

“I also had chats with Richard, who is the Operator who runs his business where my mother lives. Richard was clearly a really bright guy (he has a PhD) but very down to earth, helpful and friendly and I could see he really enjoyed running his Ed’s business.”

“So I suppose you could say that it wasn’t any one particular aspect that made me choose Ed’s, more how all the pieces fitted together and I could see how it could work for me. Rather than getting any doubts as I learned more, I was more reassured that joining Ed’s was the right thing for me.”

The Reality?

“The joining process was very smooth and straightforward. Everything is well on track with my training and set-up. The Ed’s business owners I have met have been so helpful too. Now I am just really excited about getting going with my business and building it up. I know I’ll need help and ongoing support to run a really good business. What’s great is that it is all just there for me to tap into. It’s great that Rich has joined at exactly the same time as me in Oxford. I think we will be having a number of chats, swapping notes on how we are doing things.”

We wish both Rich and Ali all the best with their businesses and look forward to keeping you posted on how their businesses grow.
