Wake up and smell the roses

Wake up to an Ed’s Franchise

Wake up to the fact that you can earn a good living and do something you really enjoy

How do we know this? Because our franchisees tell us exactly this all the time.

How about working to live and not the other way round?

Here at Ed’s we believe the acid test of how you feel about work is how you feel on a Sunday evening. Picture it – you’ve had a great weekend, probably spent a fair amount of time outdoors, you feel happy and relaxed and then Boom! – your thoughts switch from weekend mode to the working week ahead. Be honest with yourself – how do you feel? If the answer is that your mood takes a dip then maybe you should think about doing something else instead.

Work can be both fun and profitable

In the Ed’s office we can talk (a lot!) about all the advantages of running an Ed’s franchise business. From the inside it is all pretty obvious. However, we prefer to let our franchisees do the talking. After all, it is our franchisees who are living the Ed’s business owner life and no one has a better perspective of how their gardening business life compares to their previous working life.

Over to Mark…

We recently caught up with Mark, who runs his Ed’s business in Ramsgate and we asked him some quite specific questions on this topic. This is how our conversation went..

How’s gardening life right now?

“It’s pretty great. Everything is growing like crazy and there is just so much opportunity for my gardening services. I love being outdoors and driving around being my own boss and my customers are generally really lovely. Furthermore, I genuinely love what I do and I could never have imagined work being so much fun. I am the kind of person who loves opportunities and challenges and Ed’s has given me that in spades. However, I have all these business goals within a unique and quite lovely work environment. I’m totally fulfilled with what I do and I’m still just as (if not more) enthusiastic after almost six years with Ed’s as I was right at the very start.”

How do you feel on a Sunday evening?

” I feel excited about the week ahead. What’s more, I feel energised and happy. Furthermore, I don’t feel down about the prospect of work the next day.”

How does Ed’s compare to your previous job?

I previously worked in a senior corporate job as an European Sales Director for a large American company. To be honest, whilst I didn’t hate my job, I didn’t love it either. It’s true that I always felt tired at the thought of the week ahead, and that was before it had even started! The lifestyle that was part and parcel of the job was really taking its toll on my whole life – my physical health and mental wellbeing. I’m so glad that I had the conviction to make the change. I still have all the positives of a responsible and challenging job but without any of the negatives.”

How do you feel now?

“My health is better than it has been for years. I am fitter than I have ever been and that even includes when I was a teenager. I can’t exaggerate the lifestyle benefits of running my own Ed’s business. And the earnings are pretty good as well.”

What’s your family’s view on your Ed’s business?

“My wife could not be more supportive. She really worried about my health in my previous job. It was actually her influence that helped me to make the jump. She wanted me to be healthy and happy and valued that way above my corporate job. She had a hunch that Ed’s would be transformational for me and she was spot on. Our lifestyle is 100% better than it was before Ed’s. We have time to enjoy the rewards of my business. My wife comes out to work with me the odd day and we go for a nice pub lunch as part of our working day out.”

Any final reflections you would like to add?

“I’ve probably said this to you before, as I think it a lot. When I am driving around the coast road, as I frequently do, watching the sun sparkling on the water and on my way to a nice profitable job, I feel like pinching myself to see if it’s all real. The contrast with what I did before really is night and day. My only regret – that I didn’t buy my Ed’s franchise business earlier!”
