Before running my Ed's gardening franchise I worked in the police force. On leaving I took the opportunity to do something I had wanted to do for a long time, run my own gardening business. I had originally thought that I might go it alone but had two areas of concern with this. The first was marketing and how to get a big enough bang for my buck in this area, which I know can be a black hole in terms of costs. The second was that even if I got the marketing right, how could I ensure that I would be able to respond to the customer quick enough to win the job when I was busy actually doing gardens? Being a former policeman I know just how important rapid response times are! As soon as I came to an Ed's Discovery Day I knew that I would get a lot of support in both of those areas. The fact that enquiries would bounce straight to my phone was especially impressive! What's more I immediately liked the company's honest and realistic description of what was required to be successful and its dynamic approach to business. The icing on the cake is that the costs are not excessive. Decision made! I did look at other franchises alongside Ed's but there was no question which team I wanted to be part of. Very early days for me but I have high hopes for my future with Ed's.
